Breath by Breath
An online beginner's training. The foundations, taught simply: how to place attention, notice when it has wandered, and return. No prior experience assumed, and no requirement to adopt any tradition or belief.
A method built from practice, not from theory.
StillWise was created by Dr Sai Krupa Sagar, and it did not begin as a framework. It began as a practice.
Over two decades of daily meditation, study of the contemplative source texts, and the ordinary work of applying both to a demanding professional life, a set of questions kept returning. Why does clarity arrive on the cushion and desert us in the meeting? Why do capable, intelligent people make choices they can see are unwise even as they make them? What is actually in the way?
The answers did not come from reading alone. They came from testing — in his own practice first, then in the reflections of hundreds of students and retreat participants who brought back the same difficulties in different forms. The person who could sit calmly for an hour and still not say the thing that needed saying. The professional whose body had been signalling for months before anyone listened. The practitioner with genuine insight who could not translate it into a single changed behaviour.
StillWise is what emerged from that testing: a practical account of what stands between a person and clear seeing, and a way of meeting it in real situations rather than only in quiet ones. It draws on Anapanasati breath-mindfulness, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, heart coherence research, and contemporary neuroscience. But its shape was determined by what actually worked for people living full, engaged, unquiet lives.
"The method was refined in the same place it is meant to be used: in ordinary life, under real pressure, by people who could not withdraw from either."

Sai Krupa Sagar is a technology executive, meditation practitioner, and teacher.
After a thirty-three-year career in software product development and IT services with Motorola, Microsoft, Wipro, and Cognizant, Sai turned to a longer-standing question: how the art and science of meditation and mindfulness might be made genuinely usable by the people least likely to have time for it — professionals, leaders, business owners, and policy makers.
He has practised mindfulness meditation since 2004. Since 2015 he has served on the board of Pyramid Valley International, an international meditation retreat centre near Bengaluru, where he is a teacher and trustee, and where the residential Stillness Retreats are held.
His teaching draws on mindfulness meditation, breathwork, insights from neuroscience and positive psychology, and the scriptural sources he has studied most closely: the Anapanasati Sutta and the Yoga Sutras.
Sai's own path has been shaped by two teachers he continues to hold in deep gratitude: Brahmarshi Patriji, whose teachings on meditation and spiritual science opened the practice to him, and Sri Sathya Sai Baba, whose teachings on human values and selfless service shaped his understanding of what the practice is ultimately for. StillWise asks no one to adopt any tradition or belief. But every method comes from somewhere, and this one owes much to what these teachers gave.
Sai holds a B.E. in Computer Science, an M.S. in Software Systems, and a Ph.D. in International Business.
StillWise is one method within The Stillness Project — a broader initiative whose mission is to help millions clear the noise and live wisely. The work is delivered through four offerings:
